Take the Safety Culture Assessment!

Your voice counts! Help us evaluate our safety culture here at Sibley. The survey is available from today, Jan.17 to Tuesday, Feb. 14, and will come to your email from support@pascalmetrics. Your survey results are anonymous and confidential.

Don’t have computer access? We have you covered! We have reserved conference rooms with computers. Please see the January calendar for days and times. A member of the patient safety and quality department will be there to assist you if needed. Follow Daily Buzz for updates, as we will add additional time slots during the survey period.

Starting Wednesday, Jan. 25, an individual that has completed the survey will be randomly selected for a prize by Pascal Metrics every Wednesday.

2017 Presidential Inauguration

With the presidential inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20, followed by the Women’s March on Saturday, Jan. 21, we can expect an unusually large number of visitors to our city and surrounding areas. With such large crowds, there always exists the potential for concern. These include routine travel delays, civil disorders and injuries and health emergencies that may present at our Emergency Department.

While it will be “business as usual” for Sibley during this period, we also recognize the possibility of issues and have planned accordingly.

Maybe you’ve walked past Centre|Sibley, the new concierge space on the main floor of Building B, and wondered what we do. Or, maybe you have a good idea, but aren’t sure how it relates to patients. Look for our features in Daily Buzz over the next several weeks, where we’ll take you through common scenarios you might face and how Centre|Sibley can help!

Staff, visitors and patients can also visit www.centresibley.com to learn more and to fill out a survey.

Book Clhub

The Innovation Hub is excited to host a “Book Clhub,” meeting monthly over lunch in the Hub, to discuss books related to health care and innovation. The first book is number one New York Times Bestseller “When Breath Becomes Air,” by Paul Kalanithi.

Join us at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Innovation Hub. Please RSVP to frankie@sibleyhub.com if you’d like to attend.

Preventing the Spread of Respiratory Viruses

Please be aware that the flu season is upon us. Influenza activity is regional and increasing rapidly in the Washington, D.C. area. Thank you to everyone who got a flu vaccination this season, as it remains the best prevention strategy.

During the respiratory illness season, our patients are at an increased risk for catching respiratory viruses or colds from their visitors and from health care workers. Please take a few minutes to practice effective infection prevention. Remind your colleagues and visitors of some simple actions they can take to stop the spread of germs that make themselves or others sick.
