Join Sibley President and CEO Chip Davis for a one-hour special all staff Town Meeting today at noon in Building A, Floor 1, Conference Rooms 1 and 2. The goal of the meeting is to provide staff with information on key performance improvement initiatives for FY18. Attendance is strongly encouraged, so please plan to attend.
Experience a Taste of Peru on Food Truck Tuesday
Peruvian Brothers food truck will be outside of the Building B/C turnaround loop tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Peruvian Brothers are passionate about the food they grew up eating, and started their food truck to give Washington, D.C. a delicious taste of Peruvian food and a piece of their heritage. D.C. Councilmember Trayon White (Ward 8) invites you to volunteer at this year’s Ward 8 Back to School Kick-Off. Please consider donating an hour of your time to distribute school supplies to children K-12.

New Universal Protocol Policy and Education Regarding Correct Patient, Procedure and Site
Sibley has instituted a new universal protocol, Policy 01-08-04: Correct Patient, Procedure and Site, that went into effect on June 23. Click here to read the policy, which describes the process to verify that each procedure, whether surgical or non-surgical, is performed on the correct patient, is the planned procedure and is done at the correct anatomical side and site. The policy includes procedures involving moderate sedation or anesthesia, regardless of geographical location (e.g., procedural area, operating room, bedside). The policy applies unless specific Joint Commission exception criteria apply, as defined in Section II, B of the policy.
All staff involved in invasive procedures, regardless of geographical location, are required to complete education on the policy in MyLearning by Monday, July 31. Please log into MyLearning (available in my.jh.edu) to complete the course.
Welcome Father Rodolfo Salinas!
The chaplaincy services department is pleased to announce the appointment of Father Rodolfo Salinas as the volunteer priest in service to Sibley’s Roman Catholic patients. His appointment is from the Archdiocese of Washington, and he will provide priestly functions upon request and as appropriate to patients, families and staff during specific hours.
In addition to theological studies, Father Rudy, as he likes to be called, has completed studies in philosophy, psychology and administration. Most recently, Father Rudy served in Silver Spring, Maryland in Christ the King and St. Andrew the Apostle parishes. At Sibley, he replaces Father William Montgomery, who served nearly four years. Father Rudy is from Lima, Peru. The chaplaincy services department welcomes him and is pleased to have him on board.
